EDEM Analyst - Analyze your results

Learn how to review, examine, and analyze the results of the simulation using EDEM Analyst.

To analyze the simulation results:
  1. Click the icon on the Toolbar.
  2. Use the controls below the simulation window to rewind the simulation to the first Time Step.
  3. Click the icon to play through each Time Step of your simulation.

Post Processing of Meta-Particles

The next step is to use EDEM Analyst to analyze simulations that use the Bonding V2 model. This includes visual settings for seeing the bond status as well as numerical assessment of the simulation.

To post-process Meta-Particles:
  1. From the Analyst tree, select Particles and clear the Display All Particles checkbox.
  2. Click Apply All.
  3. Select Meta-Particles and then select the Display Meta-Particles checkbox.
  4. In the Coloring section, select Length from the Color by (bounding box diagonal) dropdown list.
    Note:
    • Select one of the three options to obtain different measures for various length analysis options.
    • It is recommended to investigate each type and select the appropriate measure for the particle shape.

  5. Clear the Display Meta-Particles checkbox and then select Contact.
  6. Select the following options and then click Apply All.

    Note:
    • Selecting Bond Status with a value of 1 (min and max) shows active bonds between particles.
    • Select the Hide Out of Bounds checkbox to ensure that any non-bonded contacts (value of 0 or 2) are not displayed). The Analyst will now display the bonded particles.
The following table provides detailed information about the bond status that can be exported or displayed using Color by:
Bond Status 0 Indicates that no bond has been created
1 Indicates that an active bond is in place between the elements
2 Indicates that a bond has been broken
NormBondForce 0 X Indicates the component of the bond normal force
1 Y Indicates the component of the bond normal force
2 Z Indicates the component of the bond normal force
NormBondTorque 0 X Indicates the component of the bond normal torque
1 Y Indicates the component of the bond normal torque
2 Z Indicates the component of the bond normal torque
TangBondForce 0 X Indicates the component of the bond tangential force
1 Y Indicates the component of the bond tangential force
2 Z Indicates the component of the bond tangential force
TangBondTorque 0 Indicates the component of the bond tangential torque
1 Indicates the component of the bond tangential torque
2 Indicates the component of the bond tangential torque

RandomBondStiffnessValue is a random value between -1 and +1 assigned to each bond.

The bond stiffness used is calculated as follows:

RandomBondStiffnessValue * Bond Stiffness Range * Bond Stiffness Value
