Item Field
An item field is a field that represents individual transactions from a report or external database. Item fields are usually fields that you extract from a report using a detail template, but they may be other fields, such as calculated fields, that you generate from detail information. Item fields are included in a summary definition to allow you to drill down in the summary to the transaction level, sometimes referred to as the itemized level. Including item fields in a summary definition provides an advantage over viewing individual transactions in the Table window because you can use the summary to display subtotals and grand totals.
