Creating External URL charts

External URL charts are URLs within a dashboard that you insert to browse web pages within the Envision workspace, and the web page is loaded in the dashboard area. A URL action is a hyperlink that points to a web page, file, or other web-based resource outside of Envision.

When to use an External URL Chart

External URL charts are particularly useful in scenarios where you would need to insert a URL within a dashboard. You can use external URLs to create an email or to link to more information about your data that may be hosted outside of your data source.

Creating External url charts

1.   On the toolbar, select + New Page from the Pages drop down, or on the Filters and Settings pane, select the Pages tabbed page and then click the + icon to create a new page.

2.   Click the icon in the chart area and then select the Basic tabbed page.

3.   Select the External URL chart type or click theicon at the top right corner of the chart area and then select External URL to create an External URL chart.

4.   Insert text into the chart and then use the formatting toolbar to modify the inserted text in terms of style, indentation, and so on.

5.   In the Filters and Settings pane, select any of the following:

Filters tabbed page to browse the chart dimensions using the Dimensions Browser.

Pages to view all pages in the current report as thumbnails.

Settings to define drill through, page, or report properties for the chart.
